Information about the asp
The Association for Sport Psychology (asp) represents the interests of sport psychology in both university and non-university settings, primarily in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. As of February 2026, it has 605 regular members. The goal of the association is to promote and advance sport psychology in research, teaching, and application areas of competitive, recreational, school, and health sports. This is achieved, for example, through:
- Encouraging and providing professional support for sport psychological research, teaching, and application, as well as commenting on relevant issues
- Promoting the exchange of information about sport psychological findings and methods, especially within the framework of scientific conferences and publications
- Disseminating news from the field and informing the public
- Supporting the scientific next generation, particularly through training measures
- Awarding prizes
The asp is recognized as a non-profit organization. It is registered in the association registry of the Mannheim District Court (VR 330672).
