Professional Ethics
The responsible and competent engagement with the objectives and tasks of the asp as an interest group for sports psychology (see asp statutes 2015, § 2(1)) requires those involved in sports psychology, regardless of their professional background, institutional affiliation, or title, to uphold a professional demeanor that aligns with the highest scientific and ethical standards, and to critically reflect on this commitment.
Professional Ethical Guidelines
The ethical framework guidelines adopted by the general assembly of the asp on May 14, 2015, and incorporated into the statutes (§2(6)) provide a professional ethical orientation for those involved in sports psychology research, teaching, and practice. They are particularly intended to clarify one's duties and responsibilities, promote decision-making and action security amidst varying interests, expectations, and claims, and strengthen others' trust in the professionalism of sports psychology.
The framework guidelines outline a multi-stage process for complaints and inquiries from asp members: regardless of any potential legal clarification or sanction, in cases of violations of the specified guidelines, the presidency of the asp, the ethics council of the dvs, the honorary court of the DGPs, and/or the honorary court of the BDP can be approached depending on the situation and membership.
Coordinated Consultation Process

The asp can address the following issues related to professional ethical dilemmas (see professional ethical framework guidelines):
(a) Consultation: For informal advice on a professional ethical matter, a member of the asp executive board or another asp member designated by the asp executive board can be contacted at any time and without formalities.
(b) Mediation: In cases of professional ethical conflicts, the asp executive board can be requested to mediate by writing to the asp president and outlining the case.
(c) Complaint: Formal complaints regarding professional ethical misconduct by or against asp members should be submitted in writing with detailed justification to the asp president.
In all cases, the asp executive board is responsible for the actions taken in each individual case. Involvement of representatives from other institutions and other individuals is possible on a case-by-case basis if justified. Confidentiality, the protection of personal rights, and the exclusion of bias must always be ensured.
