Ordinary members can be both natural persons as well as legal entities and associations of persons. Natural persons who have distinguished themselves through scientific work in the field of sports psychology in research, teaching, or application can be admitted as ordinary members. Students of a bachelor's or master's program can be admitted as extraordinary members. Admission must be applied for in writing at the office. The board usually decides on the admission of new members, represented by the president or the managing director. Admission is considered granted as soon as the president or the managing director has confirmed it in writing to the person concerned 

During the general meeting on May 29, 2025, in Bochum, it was unanimously decided that the membership fees will be increased starting January 1, 2026.

As of January 1, 2026, the following applies:

• The membership fee is 110 EUR per year for voting full members (according to §5 (1) of the current statutes) (including online access to JASEP).
• The reduced fee for student (associated, extraordinary) members is 50 EUR per year (including online access to JASEP).

Cancellation of membership

Membership can be terminated in accordance with the statutes exclusively by a timely written cancellation by December 31 of a calendar year Membership is not considered terminated

if the membership fee is no longer transferred. The absence of payment does not lead to the termination of membership, but to the initiation of a reminder procedure Any additional costs arising from this are the responsibility of the member. A year abroad or a longer stay abroad does not constitute a reason for a suspension of fees

according to the statutes Auslandsjahr oder ein längerer Auslandsaufenthalt stellt gemäß Satzung keinen Grund für eine Beitragsaussetzung dar.
