The needs and goals in the area of physical activity and health are diverse. Topics such as healthy lifestyles, behavioural change, self-efficacy, promoting resilience, developing coping strategies and strengthening self-regulation skills in and through exercise and sport are just some of the possible aspects.

The asp is committed to emphasising the importance of physical activity for health and well-being. Physical activity can take place in various settings, such as in gyms, at the workplace, at school/daycare centres or in nature. Last but not least, sports psychology expertise is also in demand in sports and exercise therapy for people with mental and chronic illnesses.
One focus of research activities should therefore be to take into account the individual needs and preferences of people in different settings and to offer customised sport psychology interventions to ensure a high level of effectiveness. 


As asp, we aim to actively network with the various stakeholders from science, practice, business and politics. We support sport psychologists with further education programmes, training courses and networking events to expand their specialist knowledge and keep up to date with the latest developments. 
Together, we are committed to promoting the importance of physical activity for health and well-being and supporting people in leading an active and healthy life.

Mindfulness in sport:

Mindfulness can be defined as non-judgemental and conscious attention to the present moment. It is particularly important in competitive situations to focus and not react too emotionally. Mindfulness training is very helpful here.

Self-compassion in sport:

Self-compassion is the ability to treat yourself like a good friend. This is particularly important in sporting crises. Sport. Self-compassion training can help you to get through sporting crises well. Performance and compassion are not mutually exclusive, but lead to a healing performance atmosphere.

Character strengths in sport:

Character strengths are positive qualities that are personally fulfilling and have a positive value for the individual. A conscious approach to one's own strengths can, for example, contribute to promoting an active lifestyle as well as improving team dynamics and the relationship between athletes and coaches in competitive sport.  

asp is a member of the BVPG - the Federal Association for Prevention and Health Promotion.
